The project consisted of full exterior masonry demolition and substrate remediation of asbestos. The exterior veneer, EFIS and structural steel element replacement was completed by design build process in coordination with the town facilities department. All window openings were replaced with custom Kalwal. This time, we assisted the team at Tunxis Community College with outfitting an abandoned manufacturing facility into a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing education facility. Included in our scope of work was construction of bathrooms, classrooms, conference spaces, including new HVAC systems & associated sheet-metal package, electrical and data upgrades, design/build sprinkler system, etc. Also included was major exterior renos, including tree removal, sidewalk replacements, main step replacement, building painting, etc. PCM is excited to have our hand in the future of CT’s trades industry. This 20,000 sq ft ground up facility was completely designed and built by PCM. The main structure sits upon 108 helical piles and is served by a remote on-site sewage disposal system as well as fire protection. The high end finishes and dramatic waterfront patio define this property as an iconic CT landmark. The adjacent Chester Point Marina is also served by a 12,000 sq ft and 20,000 sq ft storage facilities with multiple 42′ hydraulic doors that serve as the largest yacht storge on the CT shoreline. These pre-engineered metal buildings were also designed and built by PCM and sit upon hundreds of timber piles and were designed with various pile cap engineering as per the in-depth geotechnical analysis. It sets itself apart from its competitors with convention steel framing, EFIS, state of the art MEP’s and high-end finishes. It was designed, finished and occupied in less than 12 months. The scope of work included excavation, grading, and surface preparation for the new facility, along with the installation of electrical and water systems both inside and outside the building. Our team also constructed new bathrooms and a mechanical room within the expanded area to support the building’s operations. The new metal structure was successfully installed, and finishing work is underway on sidewalks, parking areas, and landscaping to complete the site. This project enhances the existing Senior Center by providing additional space and modern infrastructure to better serve the Vernon community. PCM is proud to contribute to the continued growth and improvement of this vital local resource. These pre-engineered metal buildings were also designed and built by PCM and sit upon hundreds of timber piles and were designed with various pile cap engineering as per the in-depth geotechnical analysis. This was a fast-paced project so as not to interfere with the competitive swimming schedule. The project consisted of an entirely new Murtha Pool system and all associated mechanicals, new HVAC and humidity control systems, electrical with decorative competition grade lighting, significant demolition and heavy finishes inclusive of custom fabricated ceiling clouds and multiple acoustical panel systems. This was a complex project and falls under the category of unique and specialized construction.
